Food and Drink

Seconds out, round 2

Hello eating disorder fans... Mrs Kevling and her mate Alex are both having another serious attempt at the South Beach Diet.

Just like last time (January) I've decided to join in, just to see if I can rid myself of the wobbly gut that has mysteriously appeared over the last few years.

What do you mean I should just exercise? Where's the fun in that?

Day 3. oh, and Day 4.

Pretty similar to day 2 in the breakfast and lunch departments. The
only changes were newly discovered fakey bacon in the breakfast fry-up,
and chick peas instead of fakey ham in the lunch salad. Fakey sausages
and roasted veg for dins. All good.

End result: 1lb lost

Running total: 5lb in 3 days

Must confess to being pretty impressed with this diet so far... I've
never really been hungry, just a bit peckish. Apart from today when I
didn;t actually get my lunch until 5pm. But that's hardly the diet's
fault is it?

So "Florence, regardez le menoooo" for today:- Same fry-up for brekkie
(as yesterday), same salad for a very late lunch (as yesterday), and to
buck the trend, an even bigger brekkie style fry-up for dinner, Oh yes,
and tried a recipe for some ricotta chocolate vanilla think, but wasn;t
too impressed.

End result: I'll weigh myself in the morning. On tenterhooks, aren't you. Just admit it.

Day 3.

You know the drill:-

Breakfast - Fakey bacon, loads of mushrooms, egg (all fried yum)
Snack - nuts
Lunch - lettuce, cherry tomatoes, chick peas, cucmber, celery, egg mayonnaise. Enjoyed it
Snack - yes, you guessed it. N. U. T. S.
Dinner - Quorn "pork" rib things, roasted veg (aubergines, courgettes, butternut squash, onions)

Result this morning: 2lb lost
Total so far: 4lb in 3 days.

Yesterday wasn't so bad. Actually having a "decent" filling breakfast certainly helped. Amazingly, I'm still enjoying my salads...

PS I'm off work today as my good mate Julian is plumbing our washing machine into a cupboard. We're moving it out of the kitchen you see, in preparation for the new kitchen next week, as a way of getting more cupboard space. Spent last night un-boxing-in all the pipes in said cubby-hole. Them previous tenants were blimmin perfectionists!!!

PPS Today's breakfast is calling... see ya later...

Day 2.

I'm bored already. I expect you are too...

Breakfast: Fried egg & mushrooms (yum. that's more like it)
Snack: Peanuts.
Lunch: Salad (mixed leaves, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber, celery), fakey ham, egg mayonnaise. Very nice.(although due to work, I was still eating it on the walk back to the car at 5pm...)
Snack: More peanuts.
Dinner: Steamed veg (cabbage, broccoli, green beans), Quorn fillets and fried onions. Just like yesterday's, a lot nicer than it looked...
Supper: Organic vanilla fat free yoghurt. Was really nice, but probably because I was hungry!

Result: Big zero.
Total so far: 2lb...

What I'm finding, is that I'm not craving anything in particular, but I am thinking about food a lot!  I'm also finding it hard being a bit peckish most of the time. I'm just not used to exercising any sort of self control in the food department...

And thanks to our impeccable timing, we're actually having our kitchen refitted next week, and we did originally say we'd just eat out that week, rather than trying to work round them.

Bang goes week 2 then!

Day 1.

This is going to get either very dull, or very repetitive, very quickly. But anyway - here's how yesterday went...

Breakfast: 0% fat Greek yoghurt with added vanilla and cinnamon. Horrible
Snack: 20 (woo!) dry roasted peanuts. Wanted more.
Lunch: Salad (mixed leaves, baby plum tomatoes, cucumber), fakey ham, egg mayonnaise. Very nice.
Snack: 20 more dry roasted peanuts. Still wanted more.
Dinner: Stir-fry (cabbage, celery, peppers, and some other green things, tofu marinated in mango dressing). Nicer than I was expecting (not a fan of tofu)

And the results... (dum dum dummmmm) - 2lb lost. Seeing as I've been going up and down by at least that amount regularly, I'm sure it's just a coincidence. We'll see eh?

Stay tuned for today's results in the morning. I bet you can hardly contain yourselves...

And so it begins...

Jo and I have finally decided to wage war on our ever increasing girths, and *tum tum TUMMM* go on a diet.

My main motive is not wanting to in up a size in trousers, and hearing mythical good things about this South Beach Diet. Apparently phase 1 lasts 2 weeks and the average loss is 8 to 13 pounds. And that'll be me sorted. Well, for now at least.

I'm not ashamed to admit the the idea of actually having to think about what I'm eating is a totally alien concept to me. But even scarier is the thought of no alcohol for a fortnight...

Anyway you can tell I'm serious, as I'm making a concerted effort to eat every piece of forbidden food in the house before midnight... Mmm Minstrels family bag...
