#6. Phone advice
Never, I repeat NEVER, lean over a mop bucket half full of dirty water with your mobile phone in your shirt pocket.
It will end in tears.

I think what I'll do at this point is send you pictures of one of my cats.

Well, it sort of works. Hopefully it will be a bit better after it's dried out overnight. At the moment half the buttons don't do anything - and seeing as one of the is the 'back' button, it kinda makes the whole thing unusable... *sob*

Take it to bits and lay them out to dry. I drop mine in the bath all the time and that seems to do the trick!

Have you thought about getting a waterproof one next time?
|

Sez, the main problem is that this particular one doesn't come apart. A small part of the back opens to get the battery and sim out, but it's less than a quarter of the back - the rest stays firmly enclosed...

It's like this:-
See what I mean? It the price you pace for a big slidey lens cover thing, I guess. Anyway, the phone and battery are sat on the radiator. *fingers crossed*

Be careful, I melted a phone on a radiator once, and you SHOULDN'T HEAT UP BATTERIES!
|

I did wonder about that... *cough* The thermostat has switched the radiator off now anyway. But I've moved the batteries just in case...

My friends Nokia? Buried in snow for ages. We realise later on in the evening had to go out and keep calling while he digs in the snow following the beep. It came out working fine...

Yep, mine fell in a stream (a motorola) and it dried out OK. *crosses fingers for picture phone*

Well this morning it all works fine. Er... apart from the 'select' key, and '1' '2' and '3'. Just as well I don't live in an area with those numbers in the dialling code... oh, wait... 01332... GAH.

My dad dropped his phone into the snow once, when he was keeping some wine cool outside (?!? don't ask...) How we larfed! He didn't find it for ages either. Also once in derby i dropped my phone into a pint. it worked fine after it had dried, apart from the keys stuck every once in a while. Poor ol' Kev, have a sweetie.

Thanks Em. As you'll see in my latest post. mine has not got any better. Either it's not a good design at drying out, or it was particularly dodgy water. And dropping it in a pint? Class!
